DAIWA’s KYOHGA JIG BASIC is a metal jig featuring a center-balanced design that creates a pause during the fall, based on research into the feeding behavior of cutlassfish, which attack while maintaining an upright posture. Available in a range of weights to accommodate changing water depths, it is designed as a basic model that makes it easy to build a cutlassfish jigging setup from shallow to deep water.
The sharply tapered head shape reduces resistance immediately after a jerk, helping to lessen angler fatigue. The center balance helps the jig maintain a horizontal posture during the fall, while its natural fall action causes the jig to turn sideways after a jerk, making it less likely to alert cutlassfish. The body features HD paint designed with consideration for damage caused by the cutlassfish’s sharp teeth. Made of lead, it comes without standard-equipped hooks.
Compatible with separately sold KYOHGA Hook SS Barashiresu Treble/Quattro or KYOHGA Hook SS Twin Assist/Chirashi Assist hooks. For the BASIC model, recommended front and rear hook sizes are specified according to weight: for 80–130 g, front #4 and rear #2; for 160–200 g, front #3 and rear #1. Use it by enticing cutlassfish with jerks and triggering bites on the horizontal fall, adjusting the presentation to changing water depths and the cutlassfish’s response.
