The SHIMANO EXSENCE SILENT ASSASSIN 140F/140S JETBOOST is a 140 mm-class lure developed to target long-range areas that are difficult to reach with conventional minnow plugs, while maintaining a minnow’s swimming depth and action. It features JETBOOST, which supports the moving weight with a through shaft and spring, providing high initial speed on the cast, stable flight posture, and quick swimming action after splashdown. It also incorporates a complex-pitch hologram using SCALE BOOST to replicate the scales of baitfish.
The floating XM-140N weighs 23 g, while the sinking XM-240N weighs 26 g, with official casting distances of 63 m and 71 m, respectively. The sinking model descends at 32 cm per second, while the specified current speeds are 65 cm per second or faster for the floating model and 105 cm per second or faster for the sinking model. The lure is designed to produce a stable swimming action during a retrieve and to maintain its action easily, even with reduced line tension when drifting with the current. It can also be used by casting from an up-and-across angle toward a cross-current position, allowing the line to lead and the lure to drift in a U-shaped path. The standard setup uses three #4 hooks; using hooks one size smaller is also introduced as a tuning option to increase the action or achieve a quicker start-up after splashdown. These models can be selected according to the target depth and current strength, based on differences in buoyancy, sinking rate, and weight.
