⚠️IMPORTANT NOTICE – DUTIES, TAXES & CUSTOMS FEES (Except for the United States)
We are experiencing serious issues with some customers refusing to pay customs duties and import taxes, which causes significant problems for our business.
As clearly stated in our Terms & Conditions,
all customs duties, import taxes, VAT, and clearance fees are the responsibility of the buyer
(except for shipments to the United States).
If FedEx or any other carrier contacts you regarding payment of duties, taxes, or related fees,
you must pay them immediately.
If you fail to do so,
these charges — including substantial additional handling and penalty fees — will be billed directly to our store.
Under our contractual agreement with FedEx,
we are legally obligated to pay these charges on your behalf if you do not.
If you refuse to pay, we will first settle the charges with FedEx, and then invoice you for the full amount paid, including all duties, taxes, and our administrative and handling fees.
If you still fail to make payment,
we will pursue legal action, and all associated costs — including legal fees and administrative expenses — will be charged to you.
This is not a threat.
It is a legitimate and necessary measure based on international trade regulations and shipping contracts.
By clicking “I Agree”, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms.
⚠️ FedEx will be closed Dec 30 – Jan 4.
No pickups or shipment movement during this period.
Notice of FedEx Rate Increase Dear Customers,
Please be informed that, effective November 15, FedEx has increased shipping rates by several percent for all destinations. As has happened in previous years, FedEx implements annual price increases. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to follow these adjustments, and we kindly ask for your understanding.
Thank you very much for your continued support of Proshop Otsuka.
Important Notice for U.S. Customers: Handling Fee Increased Due to Trump Tariff
As you may already know, the Trump Tariff has officially taken effect.
According to the initial documentation, the import duty rate for fishing tackle was stated to be 4.5%, so starting in October, we have been collecting a 4.5% handling fee from our U.S. customers and paying the import duty to FedEx on your behalf.
However, since the new system started operating, FedEx has been billing us for import duties closer to 20%, not 4.5%.
After inquiring with FedEx, we learned that the actual duty rate is 15%, and there are also additional minor processing fees that are being charged to our store.
Therefore, we sincerely apologize for another change, but starting November 10, we will increase the handling fee for U.S. customers to 15%.
Please note that this means you will not need to pay any customs duties directly to FedEx, as our store will continue to pay them on your behalf.
Please understand that this policy may change again in the future depending on FedEx’s billing system or U.S. customs regulations.
Thank you very much for your understanding and continued support.
Notice: U.S. Customs Duty Handling Policy (Effective November 6, 2025) As of August 29, 2025, the United States eliminated the de minimis exemption that previously allowed duty-free entry of shipments under USD 800. From that date, all imports to the U.S. have become subject to customs duties.
To accommodate this policy change, our store has implemented a new system starting November 6, 2025 (JST).
A 4.5% customs handling fee is now automatically applied to all U.S. orders, and we pay the import duties on your behalf.
This system ensures:
● No hassle for customers — you no longer need to handle customs duty payments yourself.
● Faster and smoother delivery — no delays at customs caused by duty payment procedures.
● No failed deliveries — no risk of returns due to unpaid duties.
● Clear cost — the total amount is shown at checkout, with no surprise charges later.
