BOTTOMUP has released a brand-new buzzbait for September 2026: the DOUBLER.

Buzzbaits may look simple, but small differences in prop rotation, vibration, sound and skirt movement can completely change the character of the lure.

With the Doubler, Bottomup focused especially on two elements: lifelike skirt action and the distinctive high-pitched squealing sound that many experienced buzzbait anglers look for.

THE NEW “W WAVE SKIRT”

One of the most interesting features of the Doubler is Bottomup’s new patent-pending “W Wave Skirt” system.

Instead of tying all of the silicone skirt material together in one position, the skirt is divided into two sections with space between them.

This allows more water to contact the skirt while still maintaining enough volume.

As the lure moves across the surface, the skirt rolls and undulates with a much more dynamic action, giving the entire lure a lively appearance similar to a fleeing baitfish.

ASYMMETRICAL PROP FOR STRONGER VIBRATION

The Doubler also uses an original asymmetrical prop.

Because the prop rotates off-center, it creates stronger vibration and water disturbance than its size might suggest.

Bottomup also shaped the lower wire arm so that the prop contacts the surface at a slight angle. This further increases the vibration and helps transmit that movement through the wire and into the skirt.

The result is a buzzbait that begins producing strong vibration and disturbance immediately after it lands.

BUILT TO DEVELOP THE RIGHT SOUND

Sound is another major part of the Doubler’s design.

The prop contacts an oversized rivet at a very small point, creating efficient friction between the two parts.

Bottomup also uses an anodized aluminum prop with a hard surface.

Together, these features are designed to develop the sharp, high-pitched “squeal” that buzzbait anglers often associate with a well-tuned and well-used buzzbait.

It is not simply about making the lure louder. The goal is to create a distinctive mechanical sound that can provoke aggressive reactions from bass.

The Doubler uses a 1.2 mm wire chosen to provide both strength and some cushioning during the fight.

Its 12.5 g (7/16 oz.) head uses a cup-shaped design for quick lift while maintaining a low center of gravity for stable swimming.

A slightly longer-shank BKK hook with a fluorine coating is used to improve hooking performance and penetration.

The Doubler is available in seven colors.

Buzzbaits have been catching bass for decades, so creating something genuinely different within such a simple category is not easy.
