It helps minimize misalignment of the ferrules caused by repeated stress during casting while trout fishing, reducing the risk of sudden disconnection. To use, simply wipe off any dirt from the ferrule area, apply a thin, even layer of wax, connect the rod, and wipe away any excess wax. The key to effectiveness is not to overapply. It also helps prevent wear on spigot joints.
