ATLANTIS’s Funky Soda is a topwater lure designed over three years of development as a “swimming popper” that combines the strengths of a diving pencil and a popper. It disturbs the surface with moderate popping sounds and splashes, while producing a tight S-shaped action underwater with bubbles enveloping the lure. In addition, its rolling flash and irregular slide at the end of the action create a versatile presentation that is less likely to become monotonous.
The representative 200F measures 200 mm in length, weighs approximately 85 g, and is made from a hard foam material. Its flat sides provide distinctive light reflection, and anglers can vary the action by combining changes in input strength with pauses rather than simply retrieving it steadily. The basic technique is to let the lure dive firmly until its head breaks the surface, then move into the next jerk, attracting fish while covering the lure in bubbles. It can also be worked with long jerks as the main action, interspersed with short-pitch jerks as needed. For the 200F, 3/0–4/0 class treble hooks or single hooks weighing around 10 g including the split ring are recommended.
