Uroco Uroko Jig Short

Uroco’s UROCO JIG SHORT is a metal jig designed around a compact baitfish profile, intended primarily for retrieve-based fishing. Its body is shorter and thicker than the original model, creating a silhouette similar to that of small baitfish despite being made of lead. It is easy to use when baitfish such as sardines or small squid are concentrated in sizes roughly equivalent to the palm of your hand. The 210g model measures 136mm in body length and 148mm overall including the eyes. Its asymmetrical body shape, combined with a setting close to center balance and slightly toward the rear, produces a swimming action on the retrieve and sinks while changing its posture on the fall.

Basic techniques center on steady retrieves, fast retrieves, stop-and-go retrieves, and one-pitch jerks. It can also be worked with long jerks to create an action that turns the jig onto its side. In the cast-and-diagonal-retrieve spin-negi style, it can be used with half-pitch jerks or gentle jerks. An example of the hook setup for the 210g model is 4/0-class assist hooks on both the front and rear, with approximately 2cm of assist cord on the front and 1cm on the rear. By taking advantage of its compact silhouette matched to the bait size, this model makes it easy to develop a retrieve-focused presentation distinct from the action of slide-type jigs.
