Breed Otter Tail

BREED’s Otter Tail Wide is a metal jig designed around a firefly squid pattern, with its presentation centered on attracting fish during the fall. It is suited to one-pitch jerks incorporating a fall, as well as long falls following a fast retrieve, and is also designed for use with a steady retrieve. Despite its thick body, it features a posture that resists rolling during the fall, aiming to trigger bites by making use of the jig’s sinking time without producing excessive flash.

The basic presentation is to incorporate a fall after a one-pitch jerk with larger rod movements. Another effective approach is to use a fast retrieve to make fish chase the jig, then transition into a long fall. Guidance recommends using an all-out fast retrieve within approximately 5 m of the bottom, allowing the retrieve speed and fall combination to be adjusted according to the target depth. The Otter Tail Wide is available in 100 g, 130 g, and 160 g sizes. The 100 g model is 68 mm in overall length, while the 130 g model is 79 mm. Choose according to bait conditions and water depth while taking advantage of the differences in silhouette and fall speed between weights.
