Sea Floor Control Spanky

Seafloor Control’s Spunky is a short metal jig developed primarily for targeting pelagic fish, with an emphasis on upward movements during retrieval. Its compact silhouette makes it easy to create a presentation with jerks, and it is designed to appeal not only to pelagic species but also to bottom fish. It has been tested off Kochi, Okinawa, and Kagoshima Prefectures, with catches including large longtooth grouper and kannagi.

The lineup includes multiple weights, including 130 g, 150 g, and 180 g, allowing anglers to choose according to the target depth, current conditions, and tackle being used. It is primarily suited to being dropped to the bottom and then worked upward with rod movements and reel operation to search the water column. When targeting pelagic fish, it can also be used with presentations focused on the range up to midwater. While the official information describes it as suitable for all species, it is particularly easy to use for jigging aimed at pelagic fish and large bottom-dwelling species. Rig it with assist hooks selected to match the target species and tackle being used.
