Supplies’ Lailaps is a floating pencil bait designed to produce wide side-to-side movement from a horizontal floating posture, making it suitable for large baitfish patterns such as gizzard shad. The standard Lailaps is primarily used with a surface dog-walk action, characterized by large lateral slides in response to rod movements. The basic technique is a one-pitch jerk: alternate inputs to the right and left to move the lure across the surface while confirming that it is floating properly. Because its action changes under the influence of wind, waves, swell, and current, the basic approach is to work it while observing its actual floating posture and action.

Sizes such as 150 and 180 are available, and the standard models are designed for topwater fishing targeting large baitfish. Unlike the standard model, the Lailaps Popper 180 is a popper-type lure that produces popping sounds and a head-shaking action from a horizontal floating posture. Within the same series, the lures can be selected according to their different actions: use the Lailaps when emphasizing side-to-side surface attraction, and the Lailaps Popper when adding the appeal of sound and head-shaking action. For the standard models, certain setups have been confirmed in which multiple hooks are fitted depending on the model, as well as methods of using the tail-side eye for a blade or with the hook removed. When changing hooks, check and adjust the lure on the actual water surface, as the floating posture and action will change.
