BlueBlue’s GACHIPEN SWIMMER 180 is a topwater lure developed to trigger strikes by maintaining a stable swimming action just beneath the surface, even when conventional diving pencils fail to draw a response. It is designed to minimize missed dives in conditions ranging from flat calm to rough water, while making it easy to maintain a continuous action even for anglers who are not accustomed to working a rod.
Its slim 180 mm, 60 g body rolls as it swims when worked with the rod. With a stronger retrieve, it produces a fast-pitched rolling action, leaning decisively from side to side. This action is suited to drawing fish from a wide area to the surface with its flashing and vibrations. With a lighter retrieve, it combines a smooth rolling action with an S-shaped path that slips from side to side, allowing you to carefully work the lure just beneath the surface without making it dive too deeply. It is resistant to losing balance even with high-tempo retrieves and delivers a quick response that imitates fleeing baitfish.
Adjust the strength of the action by varying your rod work, such as pulling harder or more gently and moving the lure faster or slower. Use stronger inputs when you want the lure to stand out in rough seas. When you want to keep the lure visible just beneath the surface for longer, or when fish follow the lure without committing to a bite, the basic approach is to work it more gently. The recommended setup is Ring #8 with Hook #3/0. This model is intended for large shore and offshore bluefish, GT, tuna, and other species.
