XESTA’s TOUCH DOWN STRONG JIG HEAD is a heavy jig head developed for targeting deep areas over 20 m deep, as well as other deep-water spots traditionally approached with metal jigs, using soft baits. Based on the TOUCH DOWN, it features a thicker-gauge hook and is available in weights from 28 to 200 g. The design helps prevent the hook from bending when snagged, while retaining strong soft-bait-holding power and handling the powerful runs of large fish. Its strength is optimized for shore and boat rockfish, as well as pelagic fish, large flatfish, sea bass, and other target species.
In addition to the horizontal fall and darting action inherited from the TOUCH DOWN, the jig head receives water flow during the fall, lift, and retrieve to make the soft bait wobble, creating the vibration unique to soft baits. Rigged with a soft bait, it enables an approach distinct from metal jigs, particularly when targeting deep-water rockfish. Hook sizes are primarily available in #3/0, #5/0, and #7/0, allowing anglers to choose according to the size of the target fish, the soft bait being used, and the required depth range.
