Shimoda Gyogu Xesta Star Head Slow Down

XESTA’s STAR HEAD SLOW DOWN is a jig head designed to present soft plastics naturally on a slow fall. It retains the basic performance of the TOUCHDOWN, while using tin for the head material, which has a lower specific gravity than lead. Tin has a specific gravity of 7.31, compared with 11.34 for lead, allowing approaches with a reduced fall speed in shallow areas and harbor environments. It is designed to make it easier to entice fish by allowing the soft plastic to remain visible longer in low-activity conditions or high-pressure situations.

The head produces a sharp darting action with its acute-angled nose, while maintaining a stable horizontal posture during a slack-line fall. The recess on the front of the head catches water and naturally moves the rigged soft plastic. It features lightweight hooks made by Vanfook, and the soft plastic is rigged and used in the same manner as with a standard jig head. Available in hook sizes #8 and #6, with weights ranging from 0.4 to 2.0 g, it can be selected according to the depth and current when targeting horse mackerel and rockfish in light-game applications.
