O.s.p Glidy — Features & specifications
OSP’s Glidy is a jig head developed to bring out even more of the performance of soft saltwater lures while improving hookup rates with a single hook. Co-developed with Masaaki Endo of Tokyo Bay Island Cruise, it combines an ultra-low-center-of-gravity head shape and hook eye with the resistance of the soft bait to produce a wide lateral sliding fall when the line is free of tension. Compared with the vertical fall of a conventional jig head, it stays suspended in the water longer and allows you to cover a wider area.
After reaching the bottom, the soft bait remains slightly elevated while the head takes a forward-leaning position. This balance is designed to help the hook enter the fish’s mouth through the weight of the head and the fish’s turning motion. The hook is a custom-made Japanese hook based on Gamakatsu’s Ken-Tsuki Tachiuo STR. It offers the sharpness and strength needed for solid hooksets during long casts and whenever line slack develops. The peg hole is designed to secure the soft bait by inserting a toothpick or similar item after rigging, helping prevent it from slipping. In addition to a 3D eye, it is equipped with an assist eye, allowing setups with blades, assist hooks, and other components.
Using the rear main eye makes it easier to feel water resistance, emphasizing control and depth maintenance. The front rail eye produces a faster rise, allowing a lift-and-fall presentation in shallow water without easily dragging along the bottom. In addition to lift-and-fall techniques, it also supports darting actions similar to a wind, producing a darting action that is less likely to move toward the angler. The 7 g and 11 g Glidy Light models have a revised weight balance suited to slim, low-resistance soft baits, combining straight-line stability with darting performance.
