Ocean Ruler Nearrid

Ocean Ruler’s Nereid is a saltwater fly series designed for targeting rockfish, horse mackerel, juvenile trevally, barracuda, and other species with light tackle. It imitates the types of bait targeted in light-game fishing, including small fish, polychaetes, plankton, and small squid, and is designed to allow anglers to choose between flies with different silhouettes and actions according to the conditions.

The Weber Ultimate is a set model that combines the tube fly “Weber Lights” with a dedicated jig head. With the fly and jig head forming an integrated rig, it swims in an almost horizontal posture in relation to the water’s surface after casting, a configuration designed to make it easier to set the hook on bites from behind. The S size combines a 1.5-inch Weber with a 1.5 g jig head, while the L size combines a 2.0-inch Weber with a 2.0 g jig head. The hook and sinker can be replaced, and changing to separately sold components allows the setup to be adjusted to the fishing location and target depth. When used with a Carolina rig or float rig, the basic technique is to count down while maintaining steady tension, then search different depths with a slow retrieve.
