Major Craft’s FLATREK 1G is a 1G-class surf rod designed with an emphasis on long-distance casting performance and a sensitive tip that detects changes underwater, while offering an accessible price point and user-friendly handling for anglers getting started in surf fishing. The easy-loading blank combines manageable flex with a sharp response and is designed to maximize casting distance. It features Fuji K guide frames and an EVA grip that is comfortable to hold and helps maintain balance during long fishing sessions. The FR1-1002M is a 10-foot, 2-piece rod with a regular-fast (RF) action, rated for 7–45 g lures and 10–20 lb line or PE 0.8–2.0. It handles a wide range of presentations, from jig heads of around 7 g to jigs of approximately 40 g, and its sensitive tip makes it easier to feel the current acting on a long-cast jig or sinking pencil, as well as detect the bottom contact of lightweight jig heads. The responsive butt and midsection deliver the power needed when maximum casting distance is the priority. The FR1-1062MH measures 10 feet 6 inches and is rated for 10–50 g lures and PE 1.0–2.0, making it a model capable of handling heavier lures than the FR1-1002M.
