Major Craft FLAT-REC 5G

Major Craft’s Flatrek 5G series was developed to reduce fatigue when walking the surf in search of productive areas, allowing anglers to continue casting lures with ease. The FR5-1002M is a versatile model capable of handling a wide range of lures, from lightweight jig heads and minnows to lures around 20 g and jigs exceeding 30 g. Featuring a 10-foot length and regular-fast action, it is suited to covering large areas while switching between various lure types.

The blank features a construction combining Toray T1100G carbon with the R360 manufacturing process, delivering both a sharp, quick recovery and powerful torque. Carbon fibers are arranged in multiple axial directions—including longitudinal, diagonal, and transverse orientations—with the layout adjusted according to the role of each section. The tip offers the sensitivity needed to easily monitor lure action, while the butt section provides the power to cast jigs around 30 g over long distances. Fuji SiC guides are configured with strength, sensitivity, and stable line flow in mind, while the easy-to-grip handle shape is designed for extended fishing sessions. The rod measures 10 feet in length, is a 2-piece design, and is rated for lures from 7 to 45 g and PE lines from No. 0.8 to 2.0, with a standard weight of 145 g.
