SHIMANO’s OCEA 17+ PE is a PE line developed to deliver both the casting feel and linear strength required for offshore casting. It features a 17-strand construction consisting of a core strand surrounded by a sheath woven from 16 individual strands. This design provides a smooth surface and supple handling while reducing deformation caused by line twisting and crushing. The individual strands are made from IZANAS®’s new SF700 grade. To address the reduction in abrasion resistance that can occur with high-strand-count braiding, the line combines strands made with thicker filaments than previous products with a surface treatment designed to enhance abrasion resistance.

The line features a surface coating and a smooth finish designed for easy passage through the guides. A special silicone resin is used for the heat-sink coating to improve slipperiness. LD-A71Y is available in a 300 m spool, with a five-color pattern that changes color every 10 m, as well as SW NAVY in a single navy color. The five-color pattern makes it easier to estimate casting distance and water depth, while SW NAVY features markings every 25 m for checking casting distance and estimating the distance to the fish. Based on the concept of Infinity Connect, this model is also designed to pursue casting performance across the entire tackle system when paired with a Stella SW or OCEA Plugger Limited.
