Shimano OCEA Covered Knot 16 PE

Shimano’s OCEA COVERED KNOT16 PE 30m is a cover PE line designed to protect the area around the knot, where damage can easily accumulate during casting, while creating a gradual transition in diameter and stiffness from the leader to the main PE line. It is intended to help reduce casting-related line troubles and tangles in the rod guides caused by differences in the diameter and stiffness of the leader and main PE line. Designed for use as a spacer placed over the main PE line, it also helps suppress fraying and strength loss around the knot.

Its 16-strand construction provides a smooth surface for easier passage through the guides during casting. The base fiber uses Honeywell Spectra®, which features thick fibers with excellent body and abrasion resistance, providing strong impact resistance. In addition, a slightly firm wax coating is applied to the surface to give the line an appropriate degree of stiffness, facilitating the process of passing a sewing needle, wire, or similar tool through the main PE line. In addition to protecting the area around the knot and assembling line systems, it can also be used to make assist hooks, taking advantage of Spectra®’s strength characteristics. The lineup is available in Marine Blue under model LD-A21Y, in sizes No. 4, 6, 8, and 10.
