Shimano Salvage Blade High Appeal

SHIMANO’s EXSENCE SALVAGE BLADE HI APPEAL is designed to harness the fish-attracting power of a spin-tail jig while minimizing tail wrapping, which can easily occur during casting, after splashdown, and as the lure starts moving after the fall. The body balance, line-eye position, shape around the tail eye, and hook configuration were field-tested, resulting in the adoption of a tail-eye cover that limits the movement of the rear hook. The balance of components—including the swivel, split ring, and hook size—has also been refined to achieve stable action that is less likely to interfere with blade rotation, while providing easy hook replacement and reliable hook-setting performance.

The body is made from a low-specific-gravity metal, allowing its compact profile to grab water easily during slow retrieves and enabling a slow presentation while maintaining depth. The blade is a leaf blade featuring SHIMANO’s original scale-pattern hologram, SCALE BOOST, which creates the flash of a small baitfish. It can be used with a basic steady retrieve, and also responds to techniques such as holding the lure in the current while maintaining line tension, as well as lift-and-fall presentations. The lineup includes the 13 g, 35 mm JL-X13Y with two #14 hooks, and the 25 g, 49 mm JL-X25Y with two #12 hooks. They can be selected according to the situation: the lighter model is suited to small baitfish and shallower ranges, while the heavier model is intended for targeting deeper water and making longer casts.
