Shimano Flame Moon XR

Shimano’s ENGETSU XR is a high-performance rod series designed to pursue the essence of tai-rubber fishing. It is available in three series—Nose, Dothera, and Casting—with a total of five models, allowing anglers to choose according to their preferred fishing style and conditions. The blanks feature Spiral X Core, which combines light weight with strength, while the full-solid models are equipped with Hi-Power X Full Solid, which reinforces the blank in an X pattern with carbon tape. Full-solid models offer a smooth bend with minimal transition from tip to butt, along with cushioning and resilience, making them suitable for setting the hook, loading the rod, and landing fish while absorbing the powerful runs of red sea bream. Solid-tip models prioritize stability during a constant-speed retrieve and sensitivity to bottom contact and preliminary bites, while tubular-tip models are designed to keep the tip from wavering even in waves and wind, making them well suited to quickly winding up after reaching the bottom and targeting fish close to the bottom.

The D-B611M+-T, a Dothera-action model, is designed to make the entire rod—from its firm tubular tip through the butt—work as one, supporting hooksets on tai-rubber rigs that have drifted far from the boat and fights with large red sea bream when current and wind resistance are added. Its vertical weight range is 50–250 g, and it is rated for lines up to PE 1.5. Baitcasting models feature the lightweight, slim X Seat Versatile Gung Grip. Its flat-bottomed grip and front trigger support constant-speed retrieves, follow-up hooksets, and secure handling during the fight. Nose-action and Casting models use spiral guides, while Dothera models use a straight guide layout, with each configuration tailored to its intended application.
