Shimano OCEA EJ Speed

SHIMANO’s OCEA EJ SPEED is a metal jig designed to maintain a stable, high-speed sliding action without spinning, even during high-speed jerks with an electric reel. It is intended to move the jig at speeds that are difficult to achieve with conventional jigging, attracting fish by taking advantage of the speed unique to electric jigging. Its shape is designed to resist losing its posture even at high speeds around the “Hi” setting on an electric reel, helping it maintain the intended action when subjected to water pressure and resistance.

The slim body cuts through the water efficiently and is easy to control up to high speeds while reducing pulling resistance. Its multifaceted design produces momentary flashes during jerks, while the jig rolls and reflects light as it falls to attract fish. The lineup also includes colors featuring SCALE BOOST, which produces complex reflections resembling the scales of baitfish.

When targeting yellowtail, the basic technique is to set the electric reel’s displayed speed to around 10, in the low-to-medium speed range, then make large rod movements to create line slack and increase the width of the slide. When targeting amberjack, select an appropriate speed in the high-speed range from 20 to Hi and use quick jerks. The lineup includes 230 g, 260 g, and 300 g models. The JV-226S measures 227 mm in length, weighs 260 g, and comes standard with original #7/0 assist hooks.
