Shimano’s Sephia CLINCH EBI SERIES egi combines a shrimp-inspired silhouette with the Flash Boost mechanism, which continues to attract squid even when the egi is not moving. The QE-X25W is size 2.5, while the QE-X30W is size 3.0, allowing anglers to choose according to conditions and bait size.
Inside the body is a reflector suspended by a spring. Vibrations from rod action and subtle movements during the fall cause the reflector to swing, producing flashes not only during darting action but also during free falls, tension falls, drifts, and bottom stays. The design creates a lifelike movement with the internal reflector even during falls and stationary periods, when conventional egi often stop attracting fish. In addition to the sharp darting action characteristic of the CLINCH series, the low-center-of-gravity Weaving Sinker stabilizes repeated darting, while the Edge Head enhances darting response. The egi was developed to convey the lifelike impression of a shrimp continuously moving its small front legs, appealing to broad squid through both visual flashes and movement.
After darting the egi with rod jerks, anglers can create a pause for squid to strike by incorporating free falls and tension falls. Because the Flash Boost reflector continues to work during bottom stays and drifts carried by the current, anglers can combine active presentations with pauses that allow the egi to be shown to the squid. A straight hook crown is used for easier hook sets, and the size can be selected between the 2.5-size QE-X25W and the 3.0-size QE-X30W.
