The SHIMANO SEPHIA CLINCH FLASH BOOST RATTLE squid jig is designed to attract bigfin reef squid through movement, light, and sound by combining flash and a rattling sound. Based on the darting performance of the CLINCH series, it features a rattle and Flash Boost mechanism built into the body. During darting action produced by rod jerks, the rattle sound signals the jig’s presence, while a reflective plate suspended inside the body by a spring swings in response to vibrations from rod movements and other actions, continuing to flash even during the fall or drift when the jig’s movement pauses. The design also adds visual appeal through the subtle movement of the reflective plate in situations with little change in posture, such as when the jig is held on the bottom.

After casting, work the jig with rod jerks to produce a darting action, then combine falls, drifts, and bottom stays to entice squid. The rattle’s sonic appeal and the Flash Boost’s reflections can be used simultaneously, making this jig suitable for situations when additional sound and flash are desired during low-light periods or in turbid water.
