Shimano Sephia Clinch Flash Boost

Shimano’s SEPHIA CLINCH FLASHBOOST is designed to continue attracting broad squid during the fall or stay, when the egi stops moving. In addition to the darting action for which the CLINCH series is known, it features a FLASHBOOST mechanism inside the body. An internal reflector swings in response to the egi’s movement, producing flashes not only during darting caused by rod jerks, but also during free falls, tension falls, bottom stays, and drifts. Because the reflector remains active even while the egi itself is stationary, it enables presentations incorporating falls and stays in conditions when squid are less responsive to conventional actions.

The lineup consists of the 2.5-size QE-X25T and the 3.0-size QE-X30T. Both are sinking types. The QE-X25T weighs 10 g and has a reference sinking rate of approximately 4 seconds per meter, while the QE-X30T weighs 15 g and sinks at approximately 3 seconds per meter. After working the egi with rod jerks to produce a darting action, anglers can use the reflector’s flashing during free falls or tension falls, combining bottom stays or drifts as needed. The two sizes can be selected according to conditions: the 2.5-size for shallow water or low-activity conditions, and the 3.0-size when a faster descent into the target range is desired.
