The SHIMANO SEPHIA SS TIP EGING rod series features both F and R actions to combine responsive handling for actively working and setting the hook with the ability to keep the egi stable while it is held stationary during tip eging. In addition to the R action, which inherits the action of conventional SHIMANO tip eging rods, the lineup includes the faster F action. The F action is suited to aggressive, efficient presentations and quick hook-setting in calm conditions, when fish are highly active, or when fishing from a position close to the water’s surface. The R action makes it easier to perform the fundamental technique of giving the egi firm jerks and then letting it rest, making it ideal when egi stability is a priority.

The tip uses TAFTEC∞, offering three times the winding strength and five times the winding capacity of a conventional solid tip. Combining strength and flexibility, it makes subtle bites—such as the tip returning, loading, or trembling—easy to detect visually, while also helping maintain the egi’s posture during pauses affected by waves. The blank incorporates Spiral X and Hi-Power X for a structure that suppresses twisting and makes it easier to control the rod in the intended direction. It also features a Perfection Seat XT, stainless-steel-frame SiC guides, and a center-cut two-piece design. The F-S68M-S is designed for crisp presentations with egis that have strong resistance, such as in deep water or fast currents. The R-S68ML-S offers an excellent balance of sensitivity and power. The R-S68M-S accommodates manual-style operation in calm conditions or when fish are highly active, allowing you to select the action and length to suit the waves, wind, water depth, and distance from the fishing position to the water’s surface.
