Shimano Sephia G5 PE

SHIMANO’s Sephia G5 PE is a PE line designed specifically for eging, featuring a high-specific-gravity design of 1.25–1.43 that focuses on the sinking speed of the egi and the feel during operation. It settles in the water more readily than standard PE lines and helps reduce line slack caused by wind and current, making it easier to guide the egi into the desired depth range and transmit the force of each rod snap. Its five-strand construction using the G-CROSS process increases tensile strength by approximately 40% compared with SHIMANO’s previous products. The high specific gravity also allows even small egis to sink more easily, while helping with bottom contact and underwater line control.

The line features five colors separated at 10-meter intervals, with markings at 1-meter increments. The tip section, which is not intended to be visible to squid, is finished in a natural light blue, while the approximately 30–50-meter range frequently used for casting and tip eging is marked with highly visible colors such as lime green and orange. This makes it easier to operate while checking the line’s position during nighttime or boat eging, and, together with its ability to settle readily in the current, helps anglers detect changes during rod snaps and when the egi reaches the bottom. The lineup includes the 150-meter PL-E55N and 200-meter PL-E65N, with multiple size options available.
