Rapala’s Flat Rap is a floating minnow designed to recreate the action of the classic Rapala “wounded minnow,” with strong flash generated by its flat-sided body. The body is made of balsa wood, while the triangular-shaped lip produces a unique, quick-flashing action. The lip also helps the lure deflect when it contacts cover. The FLR08 measures 3-1/8 inches in body length and dives to 2–4 feet, with a design that also takes casting distance into consideration.
During the retrieve, it delivers a highly flashing swimming action that takes advantage of its flat sides, and it slowly rises when the retrieve is paused. It is suited to a steady retrieve, as well as techniques such as working it around cover while allowing the lip to make contact and incorporating pauses. Each lure is hand-tuned and tank-tested by the manufacturer and equipped with two sharp VMC black nickel treble hooks. The FLR08 features No. 6 hooks.
