Rapala’s JIGGING RAP is a metal sinking lure with a balanced, weighted minnow profile. On the fall after being lifted, it swims out to both sides and produces an irregular, circular action. Its vertical presentation makes it easy to target fish suspended in the midwater column, while its falling movement imitates the trajectory of a weakened baitfish. It features reverse-facing single hooks at the front and rear of the body, along with a center treble hook attached to the belly eye, providing a hook setup designed to handle strikes from different directions.

The basic technique is a lift-and-fall retrieve: let the lure sink to the target depth, lift the rod, then allow it to fall while maintaining tension. A light lift produces a subtle presentation with limited forward movement, while a stronger lift brings out a wide, side-to-side darting action. Near the bottom, it can also be quickly lifted and allowed to sink, or worked in a yo-yo style by lightly bouncing it off the bottom. According to official Japanese information, the lineup includes the W2, W3, W5, W7, and W9. The W2 measures 2 cm and weighs 4 g, while the W3 measures 3 cm and weighs 6 g. The compact W2 is easy to use for subtle presentations, while the W3 is a suitable size when a slightly stronger presence is desired.
