Yamaria Rerise

Maria’s RERISE is a sinking pencil developed for “rising” presentations that target low-activity pelagic fish reluctant to respond to metal jigs or topwater plugs. It uses the buoyancy unique to plugs to work deep water with a slow presentation. The basic technique is to let the lure fall with a wobbling action to near the bottom, then work it upward to the desired range by combining short and long jerks before allowing it to fall again. Sink the lure with line tension that is neither slack nor overly tight. Long jerks produce a tight S-shaped slide, while short jerks create a struggling, flat-flashing action.

The models can be selected according to the depth, current, and tackle being used. The S105 measures 105 mm and weighs 40 g. This downsized model is designed to search depths of 5–10 m from piers or the surf. Its approximate sink rate is 2.5 seconds per meter, and it comes standard with heavy-wire No. 2 treble hooks and Fighters Ring No. 5 split rings. The S130 measures 130 mm, weighs 70 g, and has an approximate sink rate of 1 second per meter. It is the standard model for deep ranges of 15–30 m. The SS130 measures 130 mm and weighs 55 g, featuring a slow-sinking design with an approximate sink rate of 1.5 seconds per meter. Compared with the S130, it produces a longer fall and a more natural floating sensation, making it suited to depths of 10–20 m. The S150 is a 150 mm, 100 g heavyweight model designed for depths of 20–40 m and fast currents that are difficult to reach with the S130. With an approximate sink rate of 0.7 seconds per meter, it is supplied without hooks; rig it as a guideline with No. 2/0 treble hooks or No. 4/0-class single hooks and No. 7 split rings.
