Mangrove Studio Lunker Perfect Hook

Mangrove Studio’s Lunker Perfect Hook is an assist hook for plugs, designed to address the short strikes that commonly occur when targeting fish with 20 cm-class big baits. Its flexible assist-style construction provides a different degree of follow-through from treble hooks fixed to the lure, pursuing a setup that makes it easier to catch the fish around the mouth. The hook uses Shout!’s “TC Spark,” with a fluorocarbon coating to reduce friction. The assist cord is blue PE with an ester core, rated at 150 lb. Its moderate stiffness helps prevent tangles while also providing durability.

The components consist of fluorocarbon-coated hooks, assist cord, No. 5 solid rings, and No. 5 flat-forged split rings. They can be attached to the belly, tail, or head eye, allowing the setup to be changed according to the lure’s shape and the position of the bite. The twin type is assembled with the assist PE angle adjusted so that the hooks follow the plug’s body. The hole in the solid ring included in the package is also designed to reduce twisting of the assist PE. The twin type is available with hook sizes 2/0 and 3/0 and cord lengths of 1 cm and 2 cm, including setups for the belly position. The single type is available in sizes 2/0 and 3/0 with a cord length of 1 cm. For use, crushing the hook barbs to make them barbless is recommended to facilitate prompt release.
