Mangrove Studio Atulla

Mangrove Studio’s Atula is a sinking pencil lure developed to imitate anchovies, a vulnerable baitfish in the nearshore food chain. Designed for feeding frenzies where fish are highly responsive to bait size and silhouette, it features an anchovy-like profile and a nearly straight shape that minimizes air resistance. The body is packed with internal weight to the limit, enhancing casting distance and stability in flight.

The standard models are designed for level sinking, creating the action of a weakened baitfish slowly sinking with a gentle wobble on the fall. With twitches, the lure reproduces the movement of an anchovy breaking away from the school and darting from side to side, making it suitable for manipulation after being cast into a feeding frenzy. It can be used with slack-line falls and rod-work twitches in combination. The lineup includes the 28 g Atula 90, 35 g Atula 120, and 47 g Atula 120 Heavy. The Heavy model is designed for PE #3–6 class tackle and is suited to targeting feeding frenzies in tough conditions, such as casting into a headwind or targeting greater distances. It imitates a dying baitfish with a horizontal fall, while a steady retrieve produces a side-to-side escape action as it skims across the surface. The recommended hooks are ST-56 #4 or Treble RB Heavy #4 for the 90 mm model, #2 for the 120 mm model, and ST-66 #1 for the 120 mm Heavy.
