Mangrove Studio Mahi Jerk

Mangrove Studio’s Mahi Jerk is a sinking jerkbait in the “Mahi Bait” series, designed to replicate the dying, erratic movement of an anchovy that has been separated from a bait ball after being driven to the surface. It is designed to imitate the baitfish preyed upon by mahi-mahi, bonito, and other pelagic species, and is intended for situations when fish are reluctant to respond to topwater plugs or when low activity levels cause them to hold deeper in the water column.

This sinking lure measures 110 mm and weighs 30 g. Its defining feature is a wide action that darts dramatically from side to side with even light twitches. Using a 6–7 ft-class rod, make an underhand cast, lower the rod tip close to the surface, and immediately begin applying rhythmic jerk-and-jerk retrieves as soon as the lure lands. In addition to repeated fine twitches, it swims with a side-to-side wobbling dart action on a straight retrieve. It comes standard with #2 hooks and #5 flat-sided split rings. For use in heavier-duty applications, the manufacturer recommends ST-66-class hooks.
