Varivas Abani Squid Metal Shock Leader

VARIVAS’s Avani IKAMETAL Shock Leader [Ester] is a polyester-based ester shock leader designed to reduce rig tangles in squid metal fishing while making subtle bites easier to detect. Its moderate stiffness, characteristic of ester line, helps reduce problems caused by the leader tangling unpredictably. Made with low-stretch, highly sensitive ester fibers, it is designed to transmit even the slightest changes to the angler’s hand.

The clear, natural color is unobtrusive underwater. This color is less likely to alert highly visual squid, supporting presentations that minimize the rig’s presence. The knots, which are particularly important when creating rigs such as branch lines, achieve up to approximately 90% knot strength. The line surface features SP-V, a non-fluorine-based coating that helps suppress water absorption and deterioration through its protective film while also improving abrasion resistance. It also uses a soft-winding process that winds the line without applying tension, helping prevent flattening and unwanted stretching or contraction. Supplied in a 30 m spool, this model is easy to use for squid metal shock leaders and branch lines.
