KATSUICHI’s DECOY Assist Hook series is designed for jigging, with models selectable according to the combination of jig or plug, mounting position, and lure size. The lineup includes the Short Pike DJ-77, Middle Pike DJ-78, and Fiber Light Assist DJ-92, allowing anglers to choose according to hook shape, assist-line specifications, and whether decoration is desired.
The Short Pike DJ-77 is an ultra-short single assist hook that makes it easy to add a rear hook in situations where treble hooks may be prone to snagging. It uses the Pike AS-03, designed for quick hook penetration and secure hook-holding power, while its highly mobile eye supports reliable hooksets. It can be used at the rear or front of lures for shore casting and jigging, for seawall jigging, and with walk-the-dog-style pencil baits. The Middle Pike DJ-78 combines the Pike AS-03 with an original reflective braided line in a medium-length configuration, covering everything from light casting from seawalls to light inshore jigging. In addition to single-hook use, it can be rigged with two hooks of the same size facing each other, in an outward-facing configuration, or in a staggered setup with a Long Pike. It is well suited to medium-sized jigs and tungsten-style jigs. The Fiber Light Assist DJ-92 is tied with flash fiber on a light assist hook base. In addition to providing an appeal reminiscent of small baitfish and mysid shrimp, its design also considers assist during the inhalation bite, making it suitable for hook setups on light-game jigs.
