DAIWA’s GEKKABIJIN VERTICON JIGHEAD is designed for slowly presenting soft baits when targeting horse mackerel with a vertical rig. It features a low-density tin head. Because tin has a specific gravity approximately 150% that of lead, it has a larger volume than a lead head of the same weight and is shaped to catch the current more easily. By allowing the head to catch the current while reducing the fall speed, it helps maintain the soft bait’s swimming posture and makes it easier for horse mackerel to see the bait as it falls.

The hook is a DAIWA original gold-plated hook designed with holding power in mind, taking into account the difference between the vertical presentation and the retrieve direction when fishing from shore. It is designed to provide reliable penetration and secure holding power after the fish is hooked, and is available in standard-wire and heavy-wire versions. Head weights of 0.3 g and 0.5 g are available, along with hook sizes #8, #6, and #4 to suit different soft bait and horse mackerel sizes. Rig it with a soft bait and incorporate it into a vertical fishing rig for a fall-focused presentation, or use it to take advantage of the soft bait’s posture as it catches the current.
