Daiwa’s MORETHAN CROSSWAKE R is a super-shallow runner designed for situations where sea bass are selectively feeding on small baitfish near the surface. It features buoyancy tuned to make it easier for the lure to be inhaled even with weak suction, along with a rattle sound that effectively conveys its presence. By enlarging the rattle chamber and increasing the size of the rattle ball, it produces the deep, low-pitched big-rattle sound preferred by sea bass. The design is intended to make it easy to attract fish over a wide area not only when baitfish are abundant and the lure is less noticeable, but also when baitfish are scarce.

Slightly reduced buoyancy lowers the diving range during an ultra-dead-slow retrieve compared with the previous model, tuning the lure to enter the fish’s mouth more easily even in situations where weak suction can cause it to be deflected. Its action is a snake roll that creates a surface wake, with an effective range of up to 0.3 m below the surface. The internal body structure has been redesigned, with a large tungsten weight and wire oscillation mechanism extending straight through to the rear, while the kickback spring for the moving-weight system has been shortened to half its original length. This helps reduce deceleration during the latter part of the cast and contributes to improved casting distance.

The 90F-SSR measures 90 mm and weighs 13.7 g, while the 111F-SSR measures 111 mm and weighs 17.8 g. Both are floating models. The standard hooks are #6 treble hooks on the 90F-SSR and #4 treble hooks on the 111F-SSR, while both models come with #3 split rings. When targeting fish focused on the surface, use the lure with a surface wake centered around an ultra-dead-slow retrieve, adjusting rod movements and retrieve speed as needed.
