DAIWA’s BLAST SLJ AIR PORTABLE is designed to bring together the essential performance required for super light jigging, while making it easy to take advantage of the maneuverability of lightweight jigs and the bottom sensitivity unique to baitcasting tackle. The blank is reinforced with BRAIDING X carbon fiber reinforcement, while the tip section features highly sensitive, responsive MEGATOP technology. Despite its center-cut two-piece construction, the joints incorporate V-JOINT technology for smooth bending and convenient portability.

The 63MLB-S is a baitcasting model rated for 20–60 g jigs and PE 0.4–0.8 line. It is suited to deep-water and vertical presentations, as well as techniques that work lightweight jigs along the bottom. Its action makes it easy to move the jig as intended, while the supple, responsive MEGATOP tip provides excellent bite absorption, making it easy to work the jig after it reaches the bottom and during the retrieve. It is also well suited to presentations using slightly heavier jigs while taking advantage of the baitcasting reel’s precise control to keep track of depth. The spinning model, the 63MLS-S, is also rated for 20–60 g jigs and PE 0.4–0.8 line, and is suited to horizontal presentations incorporating casts.
