DAIWA’s SALTIGA TG BAIT is a high-density, compact tungsten casting jig developed around the concept of “a heavier jig with a smaller silhouette.” It is designed for situations in which baitfish are small and standard-sized jigs are too large, even when schools of pelagic fish are feeding at the surface. The compact profile and casting performance are combined to provide both a subtle silhouette and excellent distance. Made from tungsten, which has approximately 1.7 times the density of lead, the jig maintains sufficient weight despite its compact body and is designed for long-distance casting. The 80 g model measures 80 mm in length, while the 100 g model measures 87 mm; multiple weights from 30 g to 100 g are available.
The body is based on a realistic sardine-inspired shape and features an asymmetrical design. During the retrieve, it produces a stable swimming action, while on the fall it slides in an almost horizontal posture to imitate a weakened baitfish. Its key feature is the ability to search the water not only by enticing fish with a steady retrieve, but also by combining changes in posture during the fall. No hooks are included as standard; it is designed to be used with separately purchased assist hooks. The hook setup can be customized while considering the balance between the front and rear hooks, allowing the hook size and mounting position to be selected according to each weight, including the 80 g model.
