DAIWA’s MORETHAN SWITCH HITTER is a sinking pencil series for sea bass, designed not only for long-distance casting but also with consideration given to its start-up action during the retrieve and the pause that triggers strikes. Body shapes such as the flat-head design allow certain models to maintain an almost horizontal posture while producing a wide, irregular slalom action even at dead-slow speeds. The 65S and 85S feature an irregular slalom, the 85S-LV a wide slalom, the 105S a wide S-shaped slalom, and the 120S+R a variable S-shaped slalom, with the action and effective depth range varying according to each model’s size and buoyancy setting.

The 105S and 120S+R are equipped with the MAGLOCK+R system, which uses magnetic weight retention to improve casting performance while also assisting weight recovery after landing and helping the lure start its action quickly. The 120S+R primarily produces a long-wavelength slalom, while changes in current generate sliding and fluttering movements. The basic technique is a straight retrieve. Slow retrieves readily produce an irregular, weaving action, while changes in retrieve speed or current velocity can also generate flash-and-roll and a straight-tracking action. Laser Impact models such as the 105F-LI, 105S-LI, and 85S-LI are also available. The 105F-LI features a slow-floating setting for covering the water column from the surface to approximately 50 cm below it with a variable S-shaped slalom. Since the standard hooks and split rings differ by model, check the specifications for each size when replacing them.
