Smith Adeuo

Smith’s Ocean Performer Tsuyauo is a shad-tail soft bait developed for situations where fish are focused on baitfish. This 3.4-inch model combines a slim body with a shad tail and supports presentations ranging from swimming that takes advantage of the tail action to lift-and-fall techniques. Initially intended for rockfish fishing in the Tohoku region, its body shape and tail action create the silhouette and movement of a small baitfish when targeting fish feeding on bait.

It is primarily suited to a Texas rig paired with an offset hook and bullet sinker. After reaching the bottom, lift the bait with the rod and work it while allowing it to fall. It also accommodates techniques that gently lift and drop the bait from the bottom to the mid-water column, as well as a swimming-style retrieve. In boat-based rockfish fishing, it has been used around breaklines and structure. Whether fishing from shore or offshore, this soft bait is easy to incorporate into baitfish-pattern presentations throughout the water column.
