Smith RB Masamune

SMITH’s RB.MASAMUNE is a rear-balanced metal jig designed to combine a fast fall with sharp, short slides during jerks. By positioning the center of gravity slightly toward the rear, it not only accelerates the fall but also creates varied attitudes during slides and slide-falls. On the jerk, it rises sharply and moves with a short, gliding action, while its design also provides a responsive feel to rod movements. The body features a multi-faceted construction that produces flashes as it moves, enhancing its appeal. Available in 95g, 115g, 135g, and 155g sizes, the 135g model measures 182mm in length, and all models are supplied without hooks.

It is easy to control even in situations where the line enters at an angle, such as in fast currents or when drift fishing down-current, and is well suited to imparting action in vertical jigging styles and with baitcasting tackle. When the current is slack, baitfish activity is low, or fish are holding tight to the bottom, it can be used to trigger strikes with quick, sharp short slides and a fluttering action during the slide-fall. In contrast to the CB.MASAMUNE, which is designed primarily for long slides, the RB.MASAMUNE features a fast fall generated by its rear balance, short and crisp movements, and strong flashing from its multi-faceted body. These characteristics allow it to be selected for jigging aimed at pelagic species such as bonito, tuna, and Spanish mackerel.
