Smith Mejume Tachi

SMITH’s Medjum Tachi is a metal jig based on the Medjum, designed with action control for targeting cutlassfish. Adjusting the angle of the line eye suppresses the Medjum’s original rolling and wobbling action, tuning it for easier handling in cutlassfish jigging. A hook eye has also been added to the underside of the body. The jig is basically designed to be used without hooks, but attaching a belly hook allows you to adjust the jig’s action while fishing.

When cutlassfish are highly active, fish it without a belly hook to maintain a quick, lively action and make efficient retrieves. Conversely, when activity is low and the fish respond to a slow presentation, attaching a belly hook suppresses the action for a setup suited to soft pitches and slow jerks. Since the hook can be attached or removed according to conditions, you can search for cutlassfish responses with the same jig while varying its feel and action.
