Smith Jade

SMITH’s JADE S/SW and JADE MD/SW are minnow-shad lures designed for light saltwater fishing. Their natural action, originally developed for trout fishing, has been tuned for saltwater applications, and they feature saltwater-specific colors. The slim bodies, designed to imitate small baitfish, and flat sides create a natural silhouette, while the fully fixed weights minimize unwanted weight noise for a quiet presentation.

Their primary action is a fine, tight wobbling action with a quick start-up and excellent stability, maintaining movement even on a slow retrieve. The fixed weights produce a sharp flashing action when twitched, and the lure quickly returns to its proper posture when rod movement is stopped. The JADE S/SW is slow-sinking, allowing anglers to trace a consistent depth on a straight retrieve or trigger reaction strikes with a combination of twitching and retrieving. The JADE MD/SW is slow-floating and is the model to choose when fish are holding deeper than they do for the S/SW. Both models measure 43 mm in length; the S/SW weighs 2.2 g, the MD/SW weighs 2.4 g, and both are equipped with Mebaru hooks #12. Designed for use around harbor areas and small rocky shorelines, they can be worked with a straight retrieve or twitches to target fish that feed on small baitfish, including rockfish, barracuda, juvenile trevally, horse mackerel, marbled rockfish, and greenling.
