Cultiva’s Mebaru Ryudan (JH-85 Ryudan) is designed to let anglers target anything from the surface to their desired depth with a single jig head. Depending on which line eye is used, the jig head can be made to rise or maintain a consistent depth. Tying to the front eye and retrieving causes the head to rise, making it suitable for targeting rockfish that have moved higher in the water column. When tied to the main eye, the head is less likely to rise as it catches the current, allowing anglers to search while maintaining the desired depth. The ability to change the tying position according to conditions and the fish’s holding depth is the model’s key feature.
For surface-oriented presentations, tie the line to the front eye; when you want to keep the lure at a consistent depth, tie it to the main eye, then adjust the depth primarily through the retrieve. Available weights are 0.7 g, 1 g, 1.3 g, 1.7 g, and 2.2 g, allowing you to set up the rig according to the target depth and desired handling characteristics. Used with a soft bait, this jig head is ideal when you want to switch between a rising presentation and working different depths with the same head.
