EVERGREEN’s Chum Jig is designed to retain the casting distance and fast sinking speed unique to metal jigs while pursuing the compact profile and subtle action preferred by light-game targets such as horse mackerel and rockfish. Developed through on-the-water testing by light-game experts, its compact, tightly packed center-weighted body design combines a small silhouette with the vibration and flashing characteristic of metal jigs.
The basic retrieve is jerk and fall. Its compact darting action does not travel too far, creating the movement of a fleeing baitfish, while its fall entices fish with a quiet posture and reduced flutter. It can also be used with a steady retrieve or shaking retrieve after sinking to the desired depth. It is suitable for targeting horse mackerel, rockfish, sea bass, red sea bream, mackerel, juvenile trevally, barracuda, scorpionfish, and small pelagic fish from breakwaters, rocky shores, beaches, and other locations.
The lineup includes three sizes—2.5 g, 5.0 g, and 7.0 g—with overall lengths of 2.2 cm, 2.7 cm, and 3.4 cm, respectively. A medium-shank treble hook comes standard on the tail eye. This specification was selected after testing various hook setups to balance penetration and holding power. It is well suited for use with a light-game rod paired with thin PE line and a fluorocarbon leader while working the lure through different depths.
