ECOGEAR’s KIJIHATA GRUB is a soft lure designed by combining a hog and a grub to target grouper species, including kijihata, from the shore. Its voluminous, bulky body is designed to maintain balance even with a 30 g heavy Texas rig and to minimize lift during the retrieve.

The distinctive thick tail is designed to generate strong vibration even in a small profile. The joint between the body and tail is strongly narrowed and offset. During the cast, the tail folds to reduce air resistance and stabilize the flight posture, helping improve casting distance. On the fall, its structure prevents the tail’s rolling action from being easily transmitted to the body, reducing spinning when the lure catches the current and enhancing bottom-contact sensitivity.

When baitfish or squid are the main forage, it can be swum on a jighead rig; when imitating crustaceans, it can be worked along the bottom with a Texas rig and bottom-bumped. It is available in 3-inch, 4-inch, and 4.5-inch sizes. The 3-inch model is sized with a focus on finesse presentations and getting bites, the 4-inch model is suited to more delicate approaches, and the 4.5-inch model is designed for probing farther and deeper by taking advantage of heavier weights or its own weight. The recommended hook sizes are #1 for the 3-inch model, #1/0 for the 4-inch model, and #2/0 for the 4.5-inch model.
