The paddle 110 from AMS Design Co., Ltd. is a sinking pencil lure developed for large river-borne lugworm patterns. It is designed to target sea bass selectively feeding on lugworms in a different depth range from wake-producing lures, by allowing anglers to retrieve it slowly just beneath the surface. It measures 110 mm in length, weighs 12 g, runs at a depth of 5–40 cm, and features a slalom action.
Its distinctive wide belly catches water and helps the lure rise, making it easier to maintain a range just beneath the surface. The original belly shape produces a relaxed swing action with a narrow range of movement. Despite its fixed center of gravity, the weight balance has been optimized to ensure easy swimming even at dead-slow speeds, while also providing stability during long casts. The basic presentation is a slow retrieve focused on the area near the surface, making it suitable when lugworms are drifting just below the surface or when fish are feeding on lugworms offshore. It is also easy to incorporate into a lure rotation when it is difficult to elicit a response with wake-producing lures such as those in the Aldente series. It comes standard with #8 hooks and #3 split rings.
