AquaWave’s Muscle BUG is a saltwater soft bait designed for targeting rockfish such as mebaru during low-activity periods, with the aim of imitating weak-swimming baitfish and crustacean larvae drifting through the water. Numerous ribs of varying depths are arranged across the entire body, creating a broad silhouette while the thinner sections of the ribs prevent the bait from becoming excessively bulky. The ribs firmly catch water, making it easy to feel resistance while working the bait and allowing you to fish it slowly while staying aware of its condition.
Made from a slightly firm, resilient PVC material, the bait’s ribs readily hold their position when they catch the current, creating a natural drifting action. The ribs and broad body slow the fall, making it suitable for slow steady retrieves with a jig head, as well as ultra-dead-slow retrieves after long casts with a float rig. The body is infused with a crustacean flavor, and a hole on the underside helps with hook placement, making it easy to rig straight on a jig head while also accommodating nighttime rigging. Available in 1.4-inch and 1.8-inch sizes, the 1.8-inch model is ideal when you want to create a more prominent silhouette as it drifts.
