SHIMANO’s HARDBULL8+ is an 8-strand braided PE line designed with moderate stiffness and body to help reduce line tangles, guide wraps, and backlash when using baitcasting reels. Developed with an emphasis on the abrasion resistance and trouble-avoidance performance required for lure fishing, it is compatible with both spinning and baitcasting reels and is intended for a wide range of applications, from vertical fishing to long-distance casting.
The line uses Honeywell’s Spectra® polyethylene fiber. In addition to the stiffness and abrasion resistance provided by the thicker fibers, the 8-strand braid is finished with the MX2 process, which forms a highly crystalline layer, and features a silicone coating on the surface. This helps improve line handling while also providing durability against abrasion underwater. Its moderate stiffness makes the line easier to manage when affected by wind, while its characteristics allow it to follow rod input readily as jigs and lures fall. This model is well suited to fishing around structure and along the bottom, as well as casting with baitcasting tackle, when you want to actively control your lure while minimizing line trouble.
